Shri Nilesh Desai, Director of Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, was the chief guest at the convocation
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], April 27: Indus University, which offers high-quality technical and management education, held its 6th annual convocation on Saturday, April 16, wherein more than 1,000 students were awarded degrees and medals.
Distinguished scientist and Director of Space Applications Centre (SAC/ISRO), Ahmedabad Shri Nilesh Desai was the chief guest at the convocation.
In his welcome address, Dr. Nagesh Bhandari, Presidential Secretariat, Indus University, said, “I am thankful to Shri Nilesh Desai for accepting our invitation and gracing this convocation as the chief guest. Convocation is a very special and memorable occasion for graduating students, and I wish you all the very best. You are our goodwill ambassadors in the outside world. I assure you that the management is committed to making Indus University an internationally acclaimed university and among the country’s best for academic excellence, professional relevance, and research & innovation.”
A total of 866 students were awarded undergraduate degrees, and 198 students’ post-graduate degrees at the hands of Shri Nilesh Desai and other dignitaries. Four students also received their doctorate degrees at the convocation. Eighteen students were awarded medals and six students were bestowed awards for excellence in academic performance.
The passing out students were from the Indus Institute of Technology and Engineering, Indus Architecture School, Indus Design School, Indus Institute of IT & Communication Technology, Indus Institute of Management Studies, Indus Institute of Sciences Humanities and Liberal Studies, and Indus Institute of Special Studies.
In his address, Shri Nilesh Desai said, “Role of passing out students is for betterment and upliftment of the society at large for long term. He appreciated significant contribution of Indus University in building the students’ life and nation. He further expressed that nation has expectation from Indus university teachers and stakeholders for quality education, innovation and research oriented culture creation. SAC ISRO will be happy as Mentor for Indus University through collaboration and support for overall development of the Indus University for research, patent and technology transfer.”
Earlier, Dr. Sandeep Chakravarty, the Executive President of Indus University, made a presentation about the university’s annual report.
The convocation was declared closed after the playing of the national Song.
